Dan Hoarste
37th National A.R.O.Y. President

Dan Hoarste was born on June 13, 1982, in the city of Fagaras, Romania.  In June 1997, at the age of 15, he and his family moved to the United States and established their home in Dearborn Heights, Michigan.  Since then, they have been active members at the parish of Sts. Peter and Paul, in the same city, where Dan is a former altar boy and sacristan, graduate of the Sunday School, former Sunday School teacher, and currently serves as a cantor and choir member.

Dan has been an active member of the Sts. Peter and Paul A.R.O.Y. Chapter since August 1998.  He has served the chapter as a Conference Delegate, Treasurer and Vice President.  He was also the Treasurer of the 51st Annual A.R.O.Y. Conference (2000).  Dan has served on the National A.R.O.Y. Board for several years, having held the positions of Member At Large, Religious Education Chairman, President (2003-2005), Vice President, and is currently serving as a Special Appointment.  Since his first year in this country, Dan has attended Camp Vatra as a student, staff member, teacher and houseparent.

In June 2000, he graduated with High Honors from Dearborn High School and graduated in 2004 from the University of Michigan-Dearborn with a degree in history.  Having been tonsured a Reader by His Eminence, Archbishop NATHANIEL, in July 2000, Dan is in his third year of studies at Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology.  He speaks English, Romanian, French, and has a knowledge of Ancient Greek.

He hopes that the A.R.O.Y. will continue to prosper in “Faith, Knowledge and Good Works” in order to take our Orthodox Faith into the future and spread it.  A.R.O.Y. is the “future of our Church.”
