Rev Dr Calinic (Berger)
Spiritual Advisor

The grandson of Rev. Fr. Axente Moise, who served parishes of the Episcopate in the 1960’s, Fr. Calinic grew up in California where he finished high school and graduated from Santa Clara University with a degree in electrical engineering.  Feeling called to serve the Church, he attended Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology in Brookline, Massachusetts, graduating in 1994, and then earned his Ph.D. in Historical Theology from the Catholic University of America in 2003, having as his doctoral dissertation: Towards a Theological Gnoseology: the Synthesis of Fr. Dumitru Stăniloae.

Fr. Calinic worked for more than fifteen years as an Electrical Engineer in California and Massachusetts, but feeling that his calling to serve the Church was greater, he was tonsured by Fr. Roman Braga on August 5, 2005, the eve of the Feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord, at The Dormition of the Mother of God Monastery in Rives Junction, Michigan, where he was soon ordained into the Holy Diaconate by His Beatitude, Metropolitan HERMAN on August 15, 2005,  the Feast of the Dormition of the Mother of God.  Fr. Calinic was ordained into the Holy Priesthood by His Eminence, Archbishop NATHANIEL at St. George Cathedral on Sunday, March 12, 2006, the Sunday of the Triumph of Orthodoxy.

Fr. Calinic is the pastor of the Holy Cross Parish in Hermitage, Pennsylvania, and Visiting Professor in Dogmatic Theology at St. Vladimir Seminary in Crestwood, New York.
