The
grandson
of
Rev.
Fr.
Axente
Moise,
who
served
parishes
of
the
Episcopate
in
the
1960’s,
Fr.
Calinic
grew
up
in
California
where
he
finished
high
school
and
graduated
from
Santa
Clara
University
with
a
degree
in
electrical
engineering.
Feeling
called
to
serve
the
Church,
he
attended
Holy
Cross
Greek
Orthodox
School
of
Theology
in
Brookline,
Massachusetts,
graduating
in
1994,
and
then
earned
his
Ph.D.
in
Historical
Theology
from
the
Catholic
University
of
America
in
2003,
having
as
his
doctoral
dissertation:
Towards
a
Theological
Gnoseology:
the
Synthesis
of
Fr.
Dumitru
Stăniloae.
Fr.
Calinic
worked
for
more
than
fifteen
years
as
an
Electrical
Engineer
in
California
and
Massachusetts,
but
feeling
that
his
calling
to
serve
the
Church
was
greater,
he
was
tonsured
by
Fr.
Roman
Braga
on
August
5,
2005,
the
eve
of
the
Feast
of
the
Transfiguration
of
the
Lord,
at
The
Dormition
of
the
Mother
of
God
Monastery
in
Rives
Junction,
Michigan,
where
he
was
soon
ordained
into
the
Holy
Diaconate
by
His
Beatitude,
Metropolitan
HERMAN
on
August
15,
2005,
the
Feast
of
the
Dormition
of
the
Mother
of
God.
Fr.
Calinic
was
ordained
into
the
Holy
Priesthood
by
His
Eminence,
Archbishop
NATHANIEL
at
St.
George
Cathedral
on
Sunday,
March
12,
2006,
the
Sunday
of
the
Triumph
of
Orthodoxy.
Fr.
Calinic
is
the
pastor
of
the
Holy
Cross
Parish
in
Hermitage,
Pennsylvania,
and
Visiting
Professor
in
Dogmatic
Theology
at
St.
Vladimir
Seminary
in
Crestwood,
New
