Alexandru Radulescu
Member At Large

Alexandru Eugen Rădulescu was born in Sibiu, Romania, on March 30, 1979, to Eugen and Monica Rădulescu.  At the age of fifteen, he left home for Alba-Iulia where he attended the “Simion Ştefan” High School of Theology.  After five years of studies there, he returned to his hometown to enroll at the “Andrei Şaguna” Institute of Theology, within the “Lucian Blaga” University, where he obtained his Bachelor Degree in Theology.

In 2003, Alex came to America, after he previously visited here for 5 months in 2002, to undertake graduate studies at Sacred Heart Major Seminary in Detroit, Michigan.  In 2006, he received his Masters of Arts degree in Theology, with honors.

Ever since Alex’s arrival in the Detroit area, he joined St. George Cathedral in Southfield where he currently serves as a Cantor.  He has been involved with the local A.R.O.Y., elected President of the newly reactivated Cathedral Senior A.R.O.Y. Chapter in 2006.  He is a member of the Parish Council, and performs with the “Românaşul” Folk Ensemble, representing Romanian traditions and customs at programs and events.  This is his second year on the National Board as Member At Large.

During the years of his studies, Alex was a member of various choirs and had the chance to share the gift of his voice on many occasions.  Besides singing, he enjoys reading, playing chess or soccer, and spending time with his friends.  He speaks Romanian and English, and has limited knowledge of Greek, Latin, Hebrew, French, and Italian.

For Alex, A.R.O.Y. is an essential Church organization that brings and keeps together the future generations of our Church.  In his words, it is “the garden in which is born and grows the spiritual hope of a better tomorrow.”
