Update: Holy Nativity A.R.O.Y. Work Month Project
Holy
Nativity got creative with Work Month this year! Throughout
Great Lent, orders were taken for personalized Easter baskets. Efforts
were made to ensure each basket contained age appropriate items, such as
coloring books and games. Every
basket contained various candies, little toys, a chocolate Easter bunny
personalized with the child’s name. In
addition, under the guidance and direction of V. Rev. Fr. Simion
Pavel, parish priest, and Rev. Fr. Ioan Lupescu, assistant priest, the Holy
Nativity A.R.O.Y. Chapter compiled a small Children’s Prayer Book, which was
added to each Easter basket.
On
Saturday, April 11, the day began with chapter members cleaning our church, as
is our tradition each year. Following
the clean-up, members went downstairs into the church hall and worked together
to assemble the baskets. Some
members worked in an assembly line, while others stuffed small candies into
plastic eggs and sorted the toys based on age. After
each basket was filled with its contents, they were brought to the front table
assembly line, where each basket was enveloped in cellophane wrap, tied with
ribbon, and attached a personalized name tag.
Baskets
were distributed to the children by the Easter bunny on Easter Sunday. The
children were ecstatic and filled with joy to receive a personalized basket,
especially from the Easter bunny. They
were perplexed as to how the bunny knew their name enough to have it written
on the Easter bunny chocolate. What joy
and satisfaction to see such excitement among the children of our parish!
Overall, the work month project was a great success! The
chapter received a total of fifty orders and we were encouraged by parents to
continue the project next year. Holy
Nativity members had a fun time assembling and distributing the baskets, and
look forward to Work Month next year!
