Chapter Update: Holy Nativity A.R.O.Y. Lenten Service Project

Being in the midst of Great Lent, Holy Nativity A.R.O.Y. organized a volunteer event in order to increase their involvement in the Chicago community.  On April 4, 2009, our A.R.O.Y. Chapter participated in a Chicago Cares volunteer event at a senior home.  We started out the morning by making breakfast for the seniors.  We were all assigned various tasks.  Some of us were assigned to making scrambled eggs, while others were making sausages and biscuits.

After we served breakfast, we entertained the seniors by playing several rounds of Bingo with them.   Each senior received a prize suitable for their home needs.  After Bingo, we cleaned up and interacted with some of the seniors.  We were caught by surprise to see that there were even several residents of Romanian heritage!  They were ecstatic to see young Romanians, like ourselves, volunteering our time for others.  Our chapter had a great experience interacting with the seniors and giving back to the community.  It was an excellent activity, particularly during the period of Great Lent.

The morning began with breakfast being served.
The dishes are washed and it's time for fun!
The Bingo games begin.
