National A.R.O.Y. Board Meets in Cleveland
by
Nick Avramaut, National A.R.O.Y. Auditor & Cleveland A.R.O.Y. Member

Over the weekend of December 8 -9, the National A.R.O.Y. Board was invited to Cleveland, Ohio, for their late-Fall meeting.  Those participating in the meeting reviewed the projects already initiated this year, and discussed other projects and ongoing activities of the organization.  During the lunch break, the host chapter presented National President Lisa Nemes a cake congratulating her on her graduation from The Ohio State University.  After the meeting concluded, the Board attended Vespers at St. Mary’s and then visited the organization that will benefit from the donations collected from this year’s “Tree of Blessings” Project, St. Herman’s Orthodox House of Hospitality in Cleveland.

St. Herman’s, in addition to being a mission that helps to spread Orthodoxy in inner-city Cleveland, serves as a homeless shelter for men and provides meals for anyone in need.  Its sole source of income is the generosity of individuals, businesses, churches, and organizations who donate money, services and goods.

Later that evening, the National Board and Cleveland A.R.O.Y. members met at the Avramauts’ home before tobogganing at the Chalet in Strongsville.  On Sunday morning, the members who were able to stay for the service helped spread the joy of the season and the spirit of our patron saint, St. Nicholas, by filling the shoes of the Church School children with candy as they practiced for their Nativity program.  The weekend was enjoyed by all and we look forward to meeting again, wherever that may be!
