National A.R.O.Y. Board Meets at Cathedral

On October 21-22, the National A.R.O.Y. Board held their first meeting of the year at St. George Cathedral in Southfield, Michigan – the host chapter of the recently held 58th National A.R.O.Y. Conference.  A majority of the Board members were in attendance and took advantage of the opportunity to discuss the expectations and objectives of the upcoming year.

The meeting began at 10:30 a.m. and lasted until just after 4:00 p.m., with a short break for lunch.  Some of the business discussed included the upcoming Fall Sports Tournament in Akron, Ohio, a Christmas Project (soon to be announced to all A.R.O.Y. chapters), a review of the 58th Conference, potential promotional and fundraising projects, a brief report on the status of Project Mexico and future retreats, and other nationally sponsored events.  Committees were assigned and a brief overview was provided for the responsibilities and potential of each committee.  Among those in attendance at the meeting, offering a kind welcome, were V. Rev. Fr. Laurence Lazar, Cathedral Dean, and Stephen Maxim, Cathedral Junior A.R.O.Y. President.

At 5:00 p.m., all the Board members attended Great Vespers in the Cathedral, followed by dinner at a local restaurant at 7:00 p.m., accompanied by several members of the local Cathedral A.R.O.Y. Chapters.  The group was then joined by several more members of the local chapter for socializing and fellowship.  The weekend concluded with attendance at the Divine Liturgy on Sunday morning.

Many thanks to our host chapters, and to all our friends and supporters at St. George Cathedral!
