November
2-4,
2007,
marked
an
outstanding
weekend
of
worship,
sportsmanship,
and
fellowship.
Friday
night,
at
The
Presentation
of
Our
Lord
Church
the
activities
commenced.
Around
10:00pm,
A.R.O.Y.
members
from
Akron/Fairlawn,
Cleveland,
Chicago,
Detroit/Southfield,
Dearborn
Heights,
and
Youngstown,
met
in
the
social
hall
for
the
bracket
drawings
of
the
2007
A.R.O.Y.
Fall
Tournament.
The
beautiful
weather
Saturday
morning
encouraged
everyone
to
rise
early,
which
increased
punctuality
at
the
fields,
an
unprecedented
feat.
Friends
and
family
from
across
the
Midwest
and
Canada
joined
the
Tournament
Chairmen
George
Terhesh
and
Mark
Marlowe,
and
together
we
warmed
up
in
preparation
for
the
rigorous
hours
of
soccer
and
football
ahead.
The
rules
were
quickly
explained
and
the
schedule
of
games
was
displayed
for
all
to
see.
With
the
wonderful
turnout
of
six
soccer
teams:
Ak-R.O.Y.,
Cleveland
A.R.O.Y.,
Holy
Nativity
A.R.O.Y.,
Sts.
Peter
&
Paul
A.R.O.Y.,
Cathedral
A.R.O.Y.,
and
Youngstown
A.R.O.Y.;
and
five
football
teams:
Ak-R.O.Y.,
Cleveland
A.R.O.Y.,
Holy
Nativity
A.R.O.Y.,
Sts.
Peter
&
Paul
A.R.O.Y.,
and
Cathedral
A.R.O.Y.;
the
committee
was
pressed
for
a
proper
schedule
that
could
accommodate
everyone.
Thank
you
to
all
who
participated
and
organized
their
chapter
teams,
and
congratulations
to
the
outstanding
talent
and
performance
displayed
by
Holy
Nativity
A.R.O.Y.,
taking
both
first
place
trophies
home.
V.
Rev.
Fr.
Ian
Pac-Urar,
host
priest,
led
the
Great
Vespers
service
with
the
assistance
of
Rev.
Frs.
Calinic
(Berger),
National
A.R.O.Y.
Spiritual
Advisor,
and
Cosmin
Antonescu,
parish
priest
of
Holy
Trinity
Church
in
Youngstown.
The
presence
of
the
clergy,
including
V.
Rev.
Fr.
Remus
Grama,
throughout
the
weekend
kept
spirituality
and
fellowship
at
the
forefront
of
all
of
the
events.
Immediately
following
the
service,
the
dinner
dance
began.
Complimented
by
a
hayride
and
mititei
“burn-off,”
the
evening
was
a
great
success.
Everyone
enjoyed
sampling
the
various
types
of
mititei,
judging
each
one
on
a
scale
of
one
to
ten,
and
casting
their
votes
for
their
personal
favorite.
After
tallying
the
votes,
Fr.
Cosmin
and
his
parishioners
took
the
trophy
home
to
Youngstown,
thanks
to
a
parish
member’s
submission.
The
attendance
at
the
Divine
Liturgy
on
Sunday
morning
was
excellent,
thanks
to
the
example
of
the
National
Board,
Past
Presidents,
Alumni,
and
especially
A.R.O.Y.
members
from
most
of
the
participating
chapters
who
understand
the
importance
of
fulfilling
the
weekend
with
worship.
The
banquet
that
followed,
prepared
by
the
local
Ladies
Auxiliary,
was
superb.
Pictures
from
the
previous
day
were
shown
in
a
slide
show
presentation
and
the
awards
ceremony
was
dominated
by
the
words
“Chicago”
and
“Congratulations,”
the
latter
usually
preceding
the
former.
In
closing,
thank
you
to
everyone
who
made
the
weekend
truly
enjoyable.
