Kitchener Parishioner Posts Stories of Hope for Leukemia

Christine Ichim, daughter of Rev. Fr. Dumitru & Psa. Florica Ichim of St. John the Baptist Church in Kitchener, Ontario, has posted a website titled "Hope For Leukemia" with information about leukemia, focusing especially on stories of hope and survival.  In 1996, Christine rollerbladed across Canada to raise awareness about leukemia after her mother had been diagnosed with the disease.  This site had been launched in observance of the 10-year anniversary of the completion of her skate.

The website features online access to her mother's book "At the Gates of Despair, The Beginning of Hope" - a story about living with cancer and finding hope in God.  Christina and her siblings have worked for many years together with their mother to find treatments and a cure.  They hope that by telling their stories and compiling stories of other survivors, they can encourage cancer patients to continue to be strong in their struggle.

The website can be found at:  www.hopeforleukemia.com

By God's Grace, Psa. Florica continues to survive leukemia for approximately 20 years.  May God continue to grant her many more years with us and bless the work of her devoted family.
